Three leagues finished the first half of the league's split seasons. Git-R-Done (Terry Jackson, Mark Rogers, David Norman, Brandon Simpson) took first place in the Galaxy Classic League. 3 Strikes 1 Spare (Julia Landreth, John Rice, Bill Schutters, Mark Rogers) placed first in the Wednesday Wonders League. Double A (Dean Acker and Bobby Abrams) placed first in the Classic Doubles League.

Mark Rogers, with a score of 840 for three games, and Lynn Estes ,with an 832 score, placed first and second for the men. Narita Rose (784) and Gail Campbell (692) bowled the highest women’s scores. Thirty-nine bowlers took part in the Annual Chritstmas Tournament.

Three local bowlers placed in the 30th Annual KS USBC BA Sr Tournament. Robert "Peanut" Johnson placed first in the 70-74 age class. Steve Woltering and Steve Marionneaux finished second and third in the 55-59 age class.

The MCBA met on September 16 at 5:30 PM. Although an official meeting couldn't be held because there were not enough directors present MCBA President Harvey Poynter did talk about the upcoming senior state tournament. As of this meeting over 60 entries have come in. The entries close Sept. 23. Three bowlers will be on each lane for the tournament and the lanes will be oiled between squads. Lineage will be $15 for the 6 game series bowled. The house will donate a bowling ball to be raffled at the tournament. Beverly Shearer asked about the association paying the directors USBC dues. Harvey said the association would as it did last year. Discussed the 50/50 pot that the association runs on Monday night and if the person running the pot would get their bowling paid for that night. Harvey ask the members to consider paying or help with the expenses for him, Gary Kerns and Dean Acker when they attend state meeting. Harvey asked the members to work on getting local senior bowlers to bowl in the state tournament and told them how good of a job Dean Acker does with the senior tournaments.

The MCBA board of directors met on August 11 at Galaxy. Association President Harvey Poynter told the members the senior state tournament dates were changed at the state Jamboree to the last weekend in September. Harvey said he got to meet with the new USBC regional representive. Carl Daniels asked if we will hold a local seniors tournament before the state seniors tournament. Decided not to since the state senior tournament is only a few weeks away. Discussed selling items or holding raffles. Harvey stated Corky Steimetz will be retiring as KY State association manager after 41 years. He also stated the KY State Hall Of Fame is now leaning more toward sevice over performance. None of the MCBA HOF nominees were voted into the state HOF this year. Jenny Norman said she would check on towels to give to the bowlers at the sr state tournament. Mark Rogers and David Norman said they would take care of the brackets. A 50/50 pot will also be run. Lewis Jones Jr said he would get association managers emails from the USBC and send entry forms to the association managers to put out at the centers in their association.

Four bowlers represented the Madison County Bowling Association at the Bluegrass State Games held at Eastland Lanes in Lexington. Carl Daniels won gold in the 55 and over sanctioned singles event and Dean Acker won bronze in the same event. Lewis Jones Jr won silver in the 20-54 open singles event. Lewis Jones Sr won silver in the 55 and over open singles event. Lewis Jones Jr and Lewis Jones Sr won gold in the 40-54 sanctioned doubles event. Dean Acker and Carl Daniels won gold in the 55 and over sanctioned doubles event.

The second annual Galaxy Champions Tournament took place at Galaxy Bowling Center on April 28. Kymmi Bowles won the Galaxy Champions Tournament beating Ronnie Thomas in the best 2 out of 3 game finale. Gary Cromer placed third in the eight hour long double elimination tournament.

The MCBA held the Annual Meeting on April 7 at Galaxy Bowling Center. President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. He stated that there was a conflict with the dates of the upcoming senior state tournament to be held at Galaxy. The women and men both are scheduled to hold tournaments at Galaxy on the same weekend. Harvey said we would look at moving the senior tournament to different dates. Harvey went over bowler comparison charts for the current year compared to last season showing the association was up 2 members. Harvey asked for a report from the Hall Of Fame committee. David Norman said we had 4 nominees for the HOF. The board voted all 4 nominees into the HOF. James Noe, Ron Roberts, Beverly Shearer and Bobby Burton are the newest HOF members. Harvey suggested that we only send 1 nominee each year to be considered for the KY State HOF. Jenny Norman asked were all the nominees sent last year. Harvey said the state didn't receive the nominees last year but he would take them himself to make sure the nominee would get to the jamboree meeting to be voted on. Harvey asked how should we select the nominee to send to be voted on at the state meetings. David said we have a point system in place. Harvey said with the point system we wouldn't have to vote. Dean Acker said the State HOF votes nominees in on performance and service. The board voted to send 2 nominees to be voted on by the state using the point system. Harvey also said he thinks the person who made the nomination should attend the state meeting and present the award. Harvey said he would if he had to but would rather the person making the nomination do it. Gary Kerns told the members the jamboree will be in Owensboro this year. All board members with terms expiring were reelected to the board. Harvey said to let bowlers know that the association meetings are open and they are welcome to attend. The board set the lane inspections for Sunday August 11 at 10:00 AM. The MCBA will hold a meeting after the lane inspections are completed. Harvey asked if anyone had anything else to discuss. David said the house will hold the annual Galaxy Champions Tournament in April. Harvey asked if there were any old business. None. Any new business. Dean asked about possibly holding monthly seniors tournaments. Harvey told him if he to go ahead if he wanted to do it. Lewis Jones Jr told Harvey we should discuss the change in the awards coming up in the 2014-15 season. The local associations will be responsible for buying the awards, type of awards and what scores are eligible. Harvey said we need to find out what awards the bowlers want and how we would pay for them. Possibly raising dues or running 50/50 pots. We will need someont to run the 50/50 pots. Peanut Johnson suggested the team captains collect the 50/50 tickets from their teams giving to a person who collects the tickets. It was asked if the association would be paying for KY State Bowling Tournament entry fees this year for those who attend the state meeting. Lewis suggested paying $50 for each person who attends the meetings. Harvey said we should think on it and decide at our next meeting. Beverly Shearer asked if we would give goody bags, towels and or shirts at the senior tournament. Harvey said we could look into it. Meeting adjorned.

More than sixty bowlers turned out for the 2nd Annual Lemetta Dause Memorial Tournament. The tournament raised over $1,100 with the proceeds going to Hospice Care Plus in Lemetta's name. The MCBA Board Of Directors met on January 21 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter called the meeting to order. The Lemetta Dause Memorial Tournament was discussed. Harvey said he would like to look into putting together a booklet to raise money for the tournament. Harvey asked Ray White how much Galaxy would charge for lineage this years tournament. He will get back to us. Harvey said he would like to see the tournament grow bigger every year. Peanut Johnson said he could post the information and asked for something to be put together to post and Beverly Shearer asked for the same to put in the Register. Dean Acker will also put the information about the tournament in his bowling column in the Register. Harvey asked Lewis Jones Jr to put something together. Harvey asked the members to think of ideas of how to increase the participation in the Annual City Tournament. Tyler Morgan suggested letting teams use their scores from league play for the City Tournament. The board voted to let teams use their scores from league play during the week of February 11th - 15th.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on January 7 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter called the meeting to order. Discussed the City Tournament. Changed the dates for the City Tournament to February 9-10 and 16-17 with the sessions starting at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM each day. The Lemetta Dause Tournament date will not change and be held March 24 at 2:00 PM. Harvey told the board because of the short time we had to meet a meeting will be scheduled for February 21 at 5:45 PM.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on December 3 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter called the meeting to order. Harvey read over the Christmas Tournament rules. Dean Acker asked about the Senior Tournament date. The tournament will be held next October at Galaxy. Harvey talked about filling the vacancies on the board. Beverly Shearer nominated Merle Meade and Harvey Poynter nominated Mark Rogers. Both were elected to the Board Of Directors. Harvey thanked David Norman, Jennifer Norman and Beverly Shearer for there help with the Turkey Shootout Tournament. Harvey asked the members to work on getting prize donations for the Lemetta Dause Memorial Tournament. The date for the Lemetta Dause Tournament was set for March 24 at 2:00 PM and the dates for the City Tournament was set for February 23,24 March 2,3 bowling 2 sessions. Billy McGuire asked about updating the 300 board.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on November 5 at Galaxy Bowling Center. President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. Harvey said the State Senior Tournament will be held the first weekend of October next year. Harvey passed around the state associations financial report for the members to review. He said 9 out of 21 association were represented at the state meeting in Louisville. Zone G was made official at the meeting. Joyland Bowl in Lexington and Frankfort were added to Zone G. Harvey said because of the lower attendance at the state tournament he proposed having 3 or 4 regional tournaments in September or October with 1 out of 5 teams advancing to the state tournament. Since the regional tournaments will be closer to where the bowlers bowl it would increase participation. He said the state adds $6,500 to the state tournament each year and that money could be divided between the regions. Gary Kerns said he thinks Galaxy could get a regional tournament every year. The state won't be able to vote on the proposal until the state meeting next year. Harvey let the members know about the KSBA's yearly newsletter. He let the members know Teddy Gregg will be Vice President from Zone G. The board set the Turkey Shootout for November 18 at 2:00 PM at Galaxy. The tournament will be the same as last season. The Christmas Tournament was set for December 16 and will be the same as last year. The Lametta Dause tournament will be set for a date in March and the City Tournament will be set for dates in February if dates are open. The city tournament will be worked on at the next meeting.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on October 1, 2012 at Galaxy Bowling Center. President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. He asked the members to think about nominees for the openings on the board of directors. He said we need nominees who are interested and willing to work for the bowlers in our association. John Poynter was removed from the board of directors because he wouldn't be bowling this season due to medical issues. Harvey told the members he thought Galaxy has done a good job with the lanes and was proud of the things the association has accomplished. He asked the members to support the state tournament and attend the state meeting in Louisville. Also to get the entries in early to get the date and time you want. Harvey said he would try to visit leagues and talk to the bowlers. Hall Of Fame nominations are open and we need to push getting nominations in early. David Norman told the board we need to display the HOF plaque. The board decided to hang the plaque above the leaderboard located at lane 1.

The Madison County Bowling Association met on September 10 at Galaxy Bowling Center. MCBA President Harvey Poynter started the meeting giving information about the new Zone G which includes the Madison County Bowling Association. He passed around a map showing the area of the state the zone will cover. He told the members he and Gary Kerns will be directors on the KSBA's Board Of Directors. He reminded the members about the state tournament in Louisville and the state meeting held on the first Sunday of the tournament. He read information from the state tournament flyer about the location of the events and the host hotel rates. He also reminded the members about the upcoming monthly tournament. The board decided not to hold a local Senior Tournament this year because of the short time to put one together. The state Senior Tournament was moved up to October this season. David Norman made a report on the Hall Of Fame. He said he would send out reminders to the league bowlers about nominations for the HOF. He hoped to get the nominations early so the HOF committee will have more time to go over the nominees information. Harvey asked the tournament committee to come up with next months tournament. Ray White informed the members about a tournament that Galaxy was holding the upcoming Sunday.

The Madison County Bowling Association met on August 5 at Galaxy Bowling Center. MCBA President Harvey Poynter called the meeting to order. Harvey reported on the KSBA's Jamboree. Four directors attended the meeting (Harvey, Gary Kerns, Dean Acker and Carl Daniels). The MCBA will be in a new zone titled Zone G and will include associations south of ours and associations from the Northern Bluegrass Bowling Association. This will increase the number of possible state directors the MCBA could have on the state board. Gary Kerns and Harvey will be on the state board of directors from Zone G. These changes are expected to be voted in at the November state meeting and will increase the number of zones to seven. Harvey stated that we will have the only house in our zone with enough lanes to hold the annual state tournament. The MCBA last held the state tournament in 2004. He also reported that the Senior State Tournament will be held in October this year and starting next season the tournament will be held in centers between Interstate 65 and 75. There will also be a new age group for the senior tournament starting at 50 to 54. Harvey also let the members know that the Lexington Area USBC BA lost their charter with the USBC. Since no associations were willing to take on handling the USBC memberships for their association the women's association in the Lexington area will handle taking the memberships for their bowlers. Harvey appointed David Norman, Julia Landreth and Carl Daniels to the Audit Committee. Harvey asked David Norman (Hall Of Fame Committee) about the state association not receiving this years MCBA Hall Of Fame nominees. David said he sent the information to Gary Kron in May. Harvey said he was told to send the nominees to several state directors to make sure the nominees are received and that it will be at next years Jamboree before the nominees can be voted on for the state Hall Of Fame. Harvey reminded the members about the KSBA State Tournament in Louisville. The monthly tournament was set for September 23 @ 1:30 PM. The tournament committee was asked to come up with the tournament format.

Dean Acker, Carl Daniels, Lewis Jones Sr and Lewis Jones Jr represented the Madison County Bowling Association at the Blue Grass State Games in the bowling event. Carl Daniels won the gold medal and Dean Acker received the silver medal in the sanctioned singles event in the 55 and over age group. Dean and Carl won silver medals in the sanctioned doubles event in the 55 and over age group. Lewis Jones Sr won the gold medal in the open singles event in the 55 and over age group. The Galaxy Champions Tournament took place April 15 at Galaxy Bowling Center. After 7 hours of bowling Tyler Morgan took first place in the tournament. Lewis Jones Jr was the runner up and Bobby Abrams placed third in the tournament.

The MCBA Board Of Dirctors met on April 2 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Vice President Gary Kerns brought the meeting to order. The board voted to send all four new Hall Of Fame members to be voted on by the state board for the state Hall Of Fame. Representatives for the Gilmin House spoke to the board about helping them with a charity tournament. Gilmin House is a public charity located in Berea and is open to young men in crisis. It is affilated with 7 local churches. They said they hope to bring local churches and the community together to bowl and raise money. It will also let people know what they do. They hope to make the tournament an annual event. They said they would get the prizes for the tournament and hoped to hold the tournament in the middle of May on a Sunday at 2:00 PM. The lane inspections were set for August 5 at 11:00 AM and the next associaton meeting will be held after the lane inspections.

The MCBA Board Of Directors held the Annual Meeting on March 17 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. The financial statement for the association was passed around for the board members to review. Six directors were re-elected to the MCBA Board Of Directors. Harvey Poynter was re-elected to President. Gary Kerns to Vice President. Judy Poynter to Sergeant-At-Arms. Dean Acker, Terry Jackson and Beverly Shearer to Directors. Harvey said over all our association has had a great year. He said the leagues are up this year and thanked the members for the support of the Lametta Dause Tournament. He said the Tournament Committee and Hall Of Fame committee did a good job. He thanked Jen for taking up the 50/50. Harvey told the board he felt good about getting rezoned by the state association to the new Zone G. David Norman said our association has the best turnout at the state meetings. The state tournament will be held in Louisville this year. Harvey told the members there will be four new directors on the state board from the new Zone G. He said our association only has one vote on the state board (Harvey is on the state board of directors) and with the new zone we could get more state directors from our association. Harvey asked the members if anyone had anything to talk about. Peanut Johnson asked if any money from leagues went to the associaton. No money comes from the league. The association does take up a 50/50 pot on the Galaxy Classic League. Dean Acker said the local senior tournament was set for April 9. Tyler Morgan said there would be a double sweeper on April 1. The members discussed who would work the Lemetta Dause Tournament and how the prizes will be distributed.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on March 5 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. Harvey said Randy Burgess, Madison Southern bowling coach, wanted to speak to the board. Randy asked for volunteers for next Saturday and Sunday to help out with the Regional High School Bowling Tournament to be held at Galaxy Bowling Center. He said they need score keepers and help with working the doors collecting the $5 entry fee from the spectators. He said the house will be closed to open bowling during the tournament. He said he would like the volunteers to be at Galaxy by 8:15 AM to help but can come at anytime to help out. He said Dean Acker would be the main score keeper with the helper getting the scores to him. Madison Southern and Madison Central will be involved in the tournament. Harvey said he got a letter from Central asking for a donation for the bowling team. The board voted to donate $125 for the Central bowling team. Harvey asked any board members helping out at the regional tournament to wear their association shirts. Harvey reminded the directors about the upcoming Lemetta Dause Memorial Tournament and asked members to try to get prizes. Harvey said someone would be at the tournament to accept the donation from the tournament. He also told the members to get the word out to the bowlers, that we will be putting out flyers and Dean Acker will put information about the tournament in his newspaper column. Harvey asked when someone gets a prize to email it to the directors and as prizes are collected to re-email the list to keep everyone updated on the prizes collected. Beverly Shearer asked if the flyer could be put in the paper. Dean said he would ask. Harvey asked for a report from the Hall Of Fame Committee. David Norman said he needed to get with Merle Meade to get more information from him before we vote on who to send to the state. Harvey told the board we will hold our Annual Meeting on March 17 at 11:30 AM at Galaxy Bowling Center. He also said wait and set a date for the lane inspections when we can be sure we will have enough directors to help out. Galaxy Bowling Center will hold a House Champions Tournament in April consisting of four brackets based on handicap. A plaque or trophy will be awarded to the winner. Dean Acker asked if we were going to hold a Senior's tournament. Harvey said to lock in a date with Galaxy. David Norman said Galaxy will have two league this summer that Galaxy will not charge lineage to help increase the prize fund for the league. Amy Kaylor was removed from the board of directors.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on February 6 at Galaxy Bowling Center. President Harvey Poynter brought the meeting to order. Twelve directors were present for the meeting. Harvey asked for a report from the Hall Of Fame committee. David Norman said four nominations have been turned in and also said if these are the only entries he thinks all four deserve to be in the HOF. He told the board we need to vote for one of the nominees to be considered for the state HOF. Harvey said maybe we send one for performance and one other. We have to the end of March to send in HOF nominations. Harvey thanked David for all the work he did on the HOF. Robert "Peanut" Johnson made a motion to accept the HOF nominees. The motion got a second and passed. The board discussed the City Tournament. Harvey said we had a good turnout last year. Harvey read a letter sent by the Madison Southern High School bowling coach Margeret Tilsley asking for a donation to help the school bowling team. The board voted to give $250. Dean Acker asked if we were going to help out Central's bowling team. Harvey said we would if Central asked for a donation. Harvey told the board about Lemetta Dause passing away and how she supported our tournaments. He said we would hold a tournament on March 17 in her name with the proceeds going to Hospice in her name. He also said he hoped to make it an annual tournament. Harvey asked to get the word out and asked the directors to try to get prize donations for the tournament. Beverly Shearer said she would try to get someone from Hospice to accept the donation at the tourmament. Harvey said we will be working with the Madison County Women's Bowling Association.

3-6-9 No-Tap Tournament with proceeds going to the local hospice in her name. The tournament will be held March 10 at 1:00 PM. The MCBA Board Of Dirctors met on November 7 at Galaxy Bowling Center. President Harvey Poynter called the meeting to order. The KSBA's state meeting was discussed. He told the members that he now on the state board of directors as a zone director. Harvey said he was disappointed that only six directors attended the meeting. He said Ashland asked the state board to redistrict our association from the zone in which Ashland and the Madison County BA are both in to zone G which includes the Tri County, Lake Cumberland and Danville associations. This could increase the number of directors we can get on the state board. The change could go through at the next state meeting, He also reported that centralizing the state tournament in Louisville and Lexington was discussed. Harvey asked for dirctors interested in being delegates to the state board meetings to fill out an application. We can send three delegates to the state meetings. Billy McGuire reported that the 300 board is up to date. David Norman reported that he didn't get any feedback from the Hall Of Fame forms he put out. He said we need to get the forms out to the association members. The state jamboree was discussed. Harvey said it is important that directors attend the jamboree. This is when the legislative committee meets and state business gets done. Voting on moving our association to a new zone will be voted on at this meeting. The tournament committee (Beverly Shearer, David Norman and Lewis Jones Jr) will take care of setting up the Annual Turkey Shootout Tournament and getting out the tournament flyers.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on October 3 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter call the meeting to order. The number of board members was discussed after three directors were removed from the board. Lewis suggested trying to get someone from leagues not represented on the board. It was suggested that we leave the number of directors at 17 if no one is interested in joining the board of directors. The board voted to leave the number at 17 if no one is interested. The board discussed when to conduct the lane inspections to increase the number of directors that can attend and help out. Moving the date of the inspections to the end of the season was also discussed. The board voted to conduct a Scotch Doubles Tournament on October 15 at 12:00 PM. The tournament will use 90% of 220, use current average of 12 games or yearbook if no average and a blind draw will be used to put doubles teams together. Harvey asked for more directors to help out with the tournaments. David Norman reported on the Hall Of Fame. David said the HOF guidelines have been revised. The new guidelines are based on the KSBA guidelines. Harvey told the directors to read the new guidelines and to ask David if there are any questions. David also reported on the glass case the association wanted to put on the wall at lane 1. Galaxy said it was ok for us to install a glass case on the wall. John Poynter said he would look into getting a case built. David said he would look into the prices of new cases. Harvey asked the directors to spread the word about our Hall Of Fame to league members. He also said we need as many directors as we can get to attend the State Meeting and local bowlers to bowl in the state tournament. Jenny Morris asked about association shirts for directors to wear to the state meeting and tournament. Harvey asked for a list of directors who need shirts. Meeting ajorned.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on September 12 at Galaxy Bowling Center. The K.S.B.A.'s annual state bowling tournament was discussed. Association President Harvey Poynter told the members that the MCBA should have a vote at the state association meeting on November 6 at 9:00 AM. Harvey is to be voted in as a zone director on the KSBA Board Of Directors. He also asked if the board of directors wanted to bowl in the state tournament on teams made up of board members or the members go to the tournament with their own teams. The members voted to go with their own teams. The board set the annual "Turkey Shootout" No Tap Tournament for November 20 at 1:30 PM. Harvey asked the tournament committee to come up with a tournament for October and report back to the board. The next meeting is set for October 3 at 5:45 PM.

Galaxy Bowling Center will hold a Monte Carlo No Tap Tournament on Sundays at 6:30 PM. The tournament will be held weekly as long as there is enough bowler participation. Nineteen bowlers bowled in the first Monte Carlo Tournament last Sunday August 21.

Dean Acker, Carl Daniels, Lewis Jones Jr, Lewis Jones Sr and Steve McKnight represented the Madison County Bowling Association in the Blue Grass State Games held at Eastland Lanes in Lexington. Dean Acker and Carl Daniels took the silver medal in the doubles event in the 55 and over age group. Lewis Jones Sr took gold medals in the sanctioned singles event and the open singles event in the 55 and over age group. Steve McKnight and Lewis Jones Jr took the gold medal in the doubles event in the 40-54 age group. Steve McKnight took the silver medal in the sanctioned singles event in the 20-54 age group.

The MCBA board of directors held their annual meeting at Galaxy on Sunday February 27. Ten board members were present for the meeting. Association President Harvey Poynter started the meeting by suggesting we increase the number of directors on the board by five. He stated there were four asking to join the board of directors and we have one opening and also said the only expense would be buying association shirts for the new members. He also suggested that we no longer pay the state tournament entry fees for the members who attend the state bowling association meeting at the annual KSBA tournament since we will have so many board members. The board voted to approve the increase in the number of officers and directors on the MCBA board of directors to twenty. Six directors terms expire on August 1, 2011. Amy Mayrhofer, Carl Daniels, Ben Conner, David Norman, Billy McGuire and Renda Roberts. To free up another spot for a new director Harvey suggested making Renda Roberts a honorary director since she won't be back bowling on a league until next season. The board voted unanimously for another two year terms for Amy, Carl, Ben, David and Billy. The board also approved the change for Renda from director to honorary director. Harvey then asked for nominations for new directors. The nominees are as follows: Jenny Morris, Julia Landreth, Gary Holtzclaw, Robert "Peanut" Johnson, Tyler Morgan and John Poynter. By an unanimous voted each nominee was voted onto the board of directors. Harvey discussed the income and expenses of the association over the last 6 months. The association paid out around $900 than was brought in during that time. The association has brought in more than $1,200 from 50/50 pots and brackets. More than $600 has been brought in from USBC local dues. The current account balance is $1,102. Harvey stated that we paid out $200 in bereavement donations. He also told the members to let the bereavement committee, Beverly Shearer and Judy Poynter, know of any deaths of association members and their immediate families so they can take care of getting them the donations. The board voted on several motions. The board voted to increase the association manager's salary to $500 and the President's salary to $250. Voted to pay the 2011-2012 USBC state and national dues for the board members. Voted not to pay for state tournament entry fees for the KSBA state tournament next season for the members who attended the state board meeting. Voted to buy association shirts for the new board members. David Norman, a member of the Hall Of Fame committee, presented the board with the HOF guidelines. He said the committee had three nominees in mind for the next meeting to vote on. Buying a plaque was discussed for putting the HOF members on to be displayed at Galaxy. The board voted to buy the plaque. A HOF nomination forms will be available for all bowlers in the MCBA to make a nomination for next year. The local Senior Tournament was discussed. Dean Acker passed out a draft for the tournament for the board members to look over. The board set the tournament for Monday March 28 at 6:30 PM. The board voted to accept the senior tournament rules from the draft. The board will next meet on Monday March 7 at 5:45 PM.

The MCBA board of directors met on Monday February 7 at Galaxy Bowling Center. The board discussed the possibility of holding a local senior tournament and decided to go ahead and hold a senior tournament. Association President Harvey Poynter ask Dean Acker to come up with rules for the tournament to present at the next association meeting. Harvey told the members to remind bowlers about the city tournament. He also reminded the members of the dates and times of the tournament. David Norman made a report about the possibility of our association joining the Chamber Of Commerce. After getting the yearly fees for joining and other fees that it would not benefit our association enough for the amount it would cost the association to be apart of the organization. The board agreed with David and voted not to pursue joining the Chamber Of Commerce. Harvey asked for a report from the Hall Of Fame Committee. David told the board about establishing the guide lines for the Hall Of Fame and making nominations at our next monthly meeting. The board decided to have 3 nominees from which 1 person will be voted in each year. The vote will be conducted by private ballot from the members of the MCBA Board Of Directors. Also a nomination will be made to the state HOF each year, the nominee will be a member of our local HOF. The board voted to hold the annual meeting of our association on February 27 at 5:00 PM or after the city tournament has ended.

The MCBA board of directors met on Monday January 3 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Association President Harvey Poynter asked for a report from the Hall Of Fame committee. David Norman said the committee was waiting to get a copy of the K.S.B.A.'s Hall Of Fame application. He said the bowlers from our association in the K.S.B.A.'s Hall Of Fame would be put into the MCBA's Hall Of Fame. Harvey then asked for a report from the Bereavement Committee. Beverly Shearer asked the board to whom the association would donate money too and how much we would donate. Harvey stated we have been donating $100 to the family of bowlers or immediate family members of bowlers who have passed away. The board voted to donate $100 to the family of local bowlers who pass away and $50 to a local bowler who has had an immediate family member pass away. Amy Mayrhofer asked if our association will be holding a local senior bowling tournament this year. The board discussed holding a local senior tournament. Harvey asked Dean Acker and Carl Daniels to head up a Senior Tournament Committee and to report back at our next meeting with the number of eligible bowlers and how the tournament would be run. Harvey said he would run brackets on the Galaxy Classic League. The board voted to have the $5 from each bracket go to the association. The money will be used for donations and where needed. Harvey asked if we had any new information on the Chamber Of Commerce. David said he would contact them and get the fee to join along with any other charges. The board will next meet on February 7, 2011.

The MCBA board of directors met on Monday December 6 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Dates and times for the annual city tournament were set at the meeting. The tournament will be held on February 19, 26 & 27 at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. The entry fee was set at $20 per event and $5 for the all events. Association President Harvey Poynter said he wanted volunteers for two committees, a bereavement and hall of fame committee. Judy Poynter and Beverly Shearer will head up the bereavement committee and Dean Acker, David Norman, Carl Daniels and Mark Rogers will head up the hall of fame committee. Harvey asked that any nominations for the MCBA hall of fame be voted on at the associations annual meeting in March. He said that the bowlers from our association already in the state and national hall of fames should be on the MCBA hall of fame. Joining the Richmond Chamber Of Commerce was also discussed. David Norman said it costs $225 a year or $20 a month but didn't know if the price would be different for non profit organizations and would let us know at the next meeting.

Association President Harvey Poynter gave out the new association shirts and asked the members to wear the shirts to the KSBA meeting on Sunday. He also told the members to remind bowlers about the Turkey Shootout tournament and the other monthly tournaments. He also asked if the tournament flyers would be ready to put out next week. Lewis Jones Jr said he would have it done by then. Gary Kerns asked if the association would be interested in joining the Richmond Chamber Of Commerce. He said we could use them to help promote the monthly tournaments. Harvey asked Gary to check on it for us. The MCBA will next meet on Monday December 6 at 5:45 PM at Galaxy.

The MCBA board of directors met on Monday October 4 at Galaxy. Twelve directors were present for the meeting. The board set the date and times for the monthly tournaments for Oct, Nov and Dec. Information for the tournaments are posted on the main page. Association President Harvey Poynter asked the association directors to remind the bowlers about the upcoming state tournament. He also let the directors know that to get the state tournament hotel discount at the state tournament host hotel bowlers need to reserve their rooms 20 days before the start of the tournament. The board voted to let Randy Burgess take the 50/50 pot for the next 2 weeks. The money will go to the Southern High School bowling team.

The MCBA met on Monday September 6 at Galaxy Bowling Center. The board will send 3 teams to the Kentucky State Tournament to be held in Ashland. The members of the teams will represent the Madison County Bowling Association at the Kentucky State Bowling Association's board meeting. The board voted to buy shirts to wear to the tournament along with other events the board members will be attending in the future. The money for the shirts and the state tournament will be raised by selling 50/50 tickets.

Bowlers were able to try out 3 oil patterns on August 2, 9 and 16 and vote on their favorite pattern. The Main St oil pattern received the most votes and will be the house oil pattern for the 2010 - 2011 season.

Four members of the MCBA competed in the Blue Grass State Games on July 24 & 25. Dean Acker and Carl Daniels earned the silver medal in the double division in their age group and Carl also earned bronze in the singles division in his age group. Steve McKnight and Lewis Jones Jr received the gold medal in the doubles division in their age group. Steve McKnight lost in a roll off in the singles division in his age group.

The MCBA board of directors held the annual meeting on Monday April 5. Ten directors attended the meeting. Gary Kerns was re-elected as Vice President and the other directors whose terms were up were re-elected to the board. Mark Rogers was elected to the board replacing Kim Breeding who resigned from the board of directors. Lane inspections were set for Sunday August 1 at 9:00 AM. President Harvey Poynter told the members about the 3 tournaments with different oil patterns to be bowled in August to be voted on and decide the new house pattern. Harvey also talked about our association funds and how we built the account back up from the beginning of the year with 50/50 pots and hosting the Senior State Tournament. Moving all the leagues to the left side of the house to make it easier for Galaxy to keep the league lanes in good working order was also discussed. Gary Kerns asked about the state jamboree. Lewis Jones Jr said the information about the jamboree would be posted on our website as soon as Lewis receives the information. Harvey told the members it was important to attend the jamboree. Policies for the state association are voted on at the jamboree such as possibly centralizing the state tournament instead of moving the tournament to a different zone each year. The next meeting of the board of directors was set for August 1 at 11:00 AM or after the lane inspections have been conducted.

Galaxy Bowling Center will be hosting a tournament to introduce a new oil pattern on Monday August 2, 9 & 16 @ 6:30 PM. On August 16 bowlers will vote to decide between the 3 oil patterns. The MCBA held a board meeting on March 1 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Tim Price ask the board if one of the monthly tournaments could be held to raise money for a charity for Spinal Bifida. The board told Tim we would try to do a tournament next season possibly in August. The board also discussed the oil pattern at Galaxy and how inconsistent it is from lane to lane. Also discussed the pinsetter breakdowns and issues such as dropping pins. Amy Mayrhofer, Galaxy league coordinator, said the oil pattern will be changed sometime this summer and the mechanics are working on the pinsetter problems. She also said the oil used in the machine is the top of the line oil when asked about the type of oil used.

Forty four bowlers participated in the Scotch Doubles Tournament held at Galaxy Center on Sunday February 28. Donna and Tammy Fourre took first place in the tournament. Forty bowlers took part in the 3-6-9 No Tap Tournament held January 17 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Lynn Estes and Kim Conner place first in the tournament for the men and women's divisions. The MCBA paid out a total of ten places and awarded eight door prizes totaling over $400 in cash and prizes. The next monthly tournament will be a Scotch Doubles held Sunday February 28 at Galaxy.

The Scotch Doubles No Tap Tournament and MCBA's annual meeting will be held on Saturday March 14 instead of March 7 because of a scheduling conflict with the M.C.W.B.A.'s City Tournament.

The MCBA board of directors met on Feb. 2 at Galaxy and 14 of 15 directors attended the meeting. The board set the annual meeting for Saturday March 7 @ 1:00 PM. The board also decided to hold our next monthly tournament after the annual meeting. The tournament will be a scotch doubles no tap and will be held at 2:00 PM on March 7. More information about the tournament is on the tournament page. Terry Jackson, Carl Daniels and Lewis Jones Jr were appointed to conduct the lane dressing inspection at Galaxy. They were asked to try to conduct the inspection on March 7 @ 12:00 PM. Billy McGuire told the board he would have Joe Sageser's name put on the 300 plaque.

The MCBA Board Of Directors met on Nov. 3. Harvey Poynter, President of the MCBA, informed the members that the KY State Bowling Association's Jamboree will be held in Richmond next July. The board voted to nominate Bill Bradley for the KY State B.A.'s Hall Of Fame. The MCBA will hold a holiday Tournament in December and the City Tournament will take place in February. More information on both tournaments will be posted later on the Tournament Page.

Jack Noe was elected to the Kentucky Bowling Hall Of Fame at the KY State Jamboree meeting held in Georgetown. Jack has been a member of the Madison County Bowling Association since it was established. He was manager of Maroon Lanes and is currently an honorary director on the M.C.B.A's Board Of Directors.

At The Sept. 29 meeting of the MCBA Board meeting the members voted to purchase a 300 plaque to list the bowlers who have rolled 300 games at Galaxy. David Norman, Lewis Jones Jr and Beverly Shearer were appointed to the tournament committee. The tournament committee was asked to put together a tournament for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Upcoming City Tournament was also discussed along with possibly sending bowlers to this years State Tournament in Paducah. The board also discussed possibly sponsoring tournaments with Galaxy. The board approved the purchase of association shirts for two new board members. The next meeting will be on Monday November 3 at 5:30 PM.

The 44th Annual Kentucky State USBC BA Jamboree will be held on July 12 & 13 at Cosmic Bowling Lanes in Georgetown, KY. Scheduled for July 12 is a workshop at noon and a singles tournament at 2:30 PM. Scheduled for July 13 is the KY State BA Executive meeting at 9:00 AM. Everything will be held at Cosmic Bowling Center.

The MCBA board of directors met on Saturday January 19 at Galaxy Bowling Center. Scheduled who will work the city tournament. Also got a report from Galaxy of some changes they hope to do in the upcoming months. Galaxy will replace the bowling pins in February with wood pins. They are also going to take out the volleyball court in front of the center and put it on the bypass side of the building at a later date. Also looking at buying a used oil machine that is an upgrade from the current machine and this summer will break down and rebuild each lane from 1 to 32. New paint, new leagues and an emphasis on keeping the center clean among other things is in Galaxy's plans this year.

Dean Acker started writing a bowling column in the Richmond Register. The first column ran on Saturday December 8. Depending on the space available Dean hopes to have the league standings, men's high games of 225 or higher and women's games of 200 or higher. He also wants to include honor scores and other noteworthy accomplishments. Dean can be reached at deanynater@yahoo.com.

The MCBA met on Oct. 6, 2007. The board set the next monthly tournament for Oct. 20 @ 1:00 PM. The tournament will be a 3-6-9 No Tap Tournament. The board also scheduled the 2nd Annual Turkey Shootout Tournament for Nov. 17 @ 1:00 PM. This tournament will be a scotch doubles and turkey & hams will be awarded to the winners. The MCBA Board Of Directors Met On Saturday August 25, 2007. The board voted to lower the local association dues from $5 to $4 making the cost of the USBC card dues $15 for the 2007-2008 season. The next meeting was set for Sat. Oct. 6 @ 2:00 PM.

The MCBA and the MCWBA met on Saturday August 25, 2007. The associations discussed buying a bulliten board to put up at Galaxy. Youth bowling was also discussed. Both associations agreed to work together on holding monthly tournaments and running the annual BVL tournament on November 10.

(EDITED 1/26/07) Maroon Lanes may close on February 18, 2007. Jack Noe manager of Maroon Lanes said the center may have been sold and may close on February 18. At this time it is not sure if Maroon Lanes will reopen at a later date or if the building will be used for another business if it is sold.

The Madison County B.A. requested the KSBA hold next years KSBA's Jamboree in Richmond. The KY State Bowling Association voted to hold next years Jamboree in Richmond. Thanks to everyone who bowled in the Bowler's Appreciation No Tap Tournament Saturday August 12. Fourty-five bowlers participated in the tournament. Michael Kolibaba placed first in the men's division with a 694 series and Connie Cramer placed first in the women's division with a 667 series. The MCBA met on July 11. Twelve of fifteen board members were present for the meeting. The members conducted lane inspections after the meeting at Maroon Lanes. Galaxy's lane inspections will be conducted on July 15 at 9:00 AM.

The MCBA met on June 6. Eight board members attended the meeting. The board approved the donation of $1,440 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters to sponsor 12 children to bowl in a Big Brother Big Sister League at Galaxy this summer. The board also approved the purchase of shirts for board members to make them easy to recognize at association sponsored tournaments. Approved the Scratch No-Tap tournament date, time and rules (please check the tournament page for more information). Also set date and time for the lane inspections for Galaxy (July 15 @ 9:00 AM) and Maroon Lanes (July 11 @ 5:00PM). The next monthly meeting was also set for July 11 @ 5:00 PM at Maroon Lanes.

Rocky Anglin rolled a 300 game on the Galaxy Classic League on Monday Feb. 6. He will receive a 300 ring from the USBC. He also rolled his first 700 series. Feb. 11 and 12 will be the final days of the MCBA's Annual City Tournament. Our association had members compete in three different divisions at this years KY State Seniors Tournament in Danville, KY.

The MCBA directors met Monday Dec. 12. The MCBA's Annual City Tournament was the main topic of discussion. The city tournament will be held the first two weekends of February 2006. Troy Conner rolled a 804 series on February 21, 2005 on the Galaxy Classic League. This is the first 800 series rolled at Galaxy Bowling Center. Troy will receive a 800 series watch from the American Bowing Congress.

It was announced at the MCBA's Annual Meeting that Joe Silver was named the new General Manager of Galaxy Bowling Center.

The MCBA met on March 1, 2004. Three new directors were elected to the board, Wilma Whittamore, Joe Silver and Roger Shackleford. The board voted not to merge with the Madison County Women's B.A. , the MCWBA had decided not to merge with the MCBA at an earlier date. The board voted to add $250 to the prize fund of an upcoming doubles tournament sponsored by Galaxy Bowling Center and the MCBA. The board also voted to sponsor kids unable to participate in the summer bowling camp at Galaxy this summer because of financial reasons. The MCBA held a meeting on Oct. 25 to work on the state tournament. All members of the MCBA are welcome to attend our next meeting on Nov. 1. We are going to do a run through of signups and other jobs associated with running the state tournament.

The board met on Aug. 3 at Galaxy Center. The state tournament was the main topic of the meeting. The board approved purchasing embroidered towels to sell at the tournament. The board voted to meet every two weeks up to the state tournament. The next meeting was set for Aug. 17 at Maroon Lanes.

The board met on July 6, 2004 at Galaxy Center. The board approved buying the Brackman brackets software for the state tournament. The board also approved paying the annual fee for the association website and the printing of a four page booklet about the state tournament to hand out at the jamboree. Ron Roberts (Copyrite Printing) printed the booklet at his cost to help out our association. The next meeting was set for Aug. 3 at Galaxy Bowling Center.

The board met on March 2, 2004 at Galaxy Center. This was our annual meeting. The board announced that the City Tournament results would be posted later this week because they had to check with the ABC rules department about the wording of a tournament rule. The board removed two directors from the board because they had missed meetings without contacting the board. Dustin Woolery and Bill Hare were elected to the board of directors. The next meeting is set for April 6, 2004 at Maroon Lanes. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM.

The M.C.B.A. presented their proposal and was awarded the 2004 Ky State Tournament at the annual state association meeting in Bowling Green on Nov. 2. The MCBA held its monthly meeting at Galaxy Center on Oct. 14. The final proposal for the KY State Tournament was discussed. The MCBA met April 1, 2003. At the meeting the board dismissed two directors (Gordy Hall and David Whittamore) because they haven't been showing up for meetings. The board approved the date and rules for the June Doubles Tournament at Maroon Lanes. Set the next meeting for June 3, 2003.

The MCBA held it's annual meeting on Feb. 25, 2003. John Beranek was re-elected President and John Poynter was elected as Vice President of our association. Three new directors were also elected to the board. Eli Harness, Bev Ingram and Worth McGuire are the newly elected directors. The board approved the April Doubles Sweeper rules. The M.C.B.A. met on Dec. 3, 2002. Ten (10) of fifteen (15) board members were present. The board passed a motion to remove three (3) directors. David Whittamore was voted to finish the term of Vice-President for Brian Dexter. The board discussed helping the women's association with their state tournament which will be held in Richmond in 2003. The boad voted to accept the tournament format and rules for the Double Sweeper set for Dec. 14, 2002. Passed a motion to hold the monthly tournaments the second Saturday of each month. Set the city tournament dates for Feb. 1,2,8,9,15 and 16. Passed a motion to hold the annual meeting on Feb. 25, 2003. The board set the next meeting for January 7, 2003 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at Maroon Lanes.

The M.C.B.A. held a meeting on November 19, 2002 at Maroon Lanes. Nine board members attended the meeting. The board discussed holding a bi-monthly tournament alternating between Maroon Lanes and Galaxy Bowling Center. The board also discussed bringing the Ky Bowling Assoc. State Tournament to Richmond. The board worked on the annual city tournament, the Tournament Committee will report back to the board at our next meeting with dates and times.
