Board Of Directors Meeting

Harvey Poynter called the meeting of the MCBA to order. The board started the meeting discussing the problems we have been having getting the association shirts from Stoneworths. Wilma said she had checked with First Gear and they said it would take 3 weeks for them to have the shirts ready. Harvey asked Wilma to take care of getting the shirts for the board members who hadn’t received one. Harvey said he would talk to Stoneworths. Harvey asked Joe Silver about the bulletin board for the association. Joe said he’s waiting to here back from the salesman he has spoke to and was told it is not a stocked item. Harvey suggested that both the M.C.B.A and the M.C.W.B.A. should meet and discuss the goals of our associations and possibly working together on some tournaments. Talked about the 3-6-9 Scratch No-Tap tournament set for Oct. 21 and putting out flyers for every league that bowls at Galaxy and Maroon Lanes. The board then discussed the type of tournament to hold in Nov. Harvey suggested it be a Thanksgiving tournament, call it a turkey shootout and we give away turkeys to the winners. Wilma suggested we hold a low score tournament (a tournament in which you try to get the lowest amount of pins without throwing the ball in the gutter). The board decided to hold a Thanksgiving tournament on Nov. 18, 2006. The tournament will be held at Galaxy on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Instead of turkeys a $25 gift certificate will be awarded to the winners of the tournament. The entry fee was set for $15 and 1 out of 5 will place. The members next discussed possibly holding the KSBA Jamboree next summer. Mike Dillon asked if there were any youth leagues bowling this year. The board was informed that there were no sanctioned youth leagues this year. The board talked about what our association could do about the lack of a local youth bowling association and sanctioned leagues. Maybe our association could serve as the youth association board until a new youth bowling association could be formed. The board set the next meeting for Nov. 7, 2006. The meeting will be held at Galaxy Bowling Center at 6:00 PM.
